EMarketer: Tablet usage up 158.6% this year

New York—According to a new report from eMarketer, 33.7 million Americans use tablet devices at least once a month, up 158.6% over last year. By 2014, nearly 90 million Americans will be using tablets monthly, making up 35.6% of all Internet users, the report found. Leading the growth in tablets is the iPad, which grew from 28 million users last year to 60.8 million this year, according to eMarketer. By 2014, iPad users will account for 68% of the overall U.S. tablet audience. EMarketer based its forecast of tablet and iPad usage on an analysis of published survey data and other research on device penetration.
