EMarketer: Video advertising reaches critical mass

New York—A new report by eMarketer indicates that 67% of all Internet users are viewing some form of video advertising at least once a month, and notes that the audience for video ads has reached critical mass as a viable video advertising market.

According to eMarketer's “Video Advertising Growth Factors” report, the percentage of Internet users viewing online video ads will grow to 81% by 2012, coinciding with the amount of professional-quality video content, which will attract a broad base of brand marketers.

However, eMarketer said, the fear of cannibalizing legacy business models will somewhat slow placement of video assets.
