Entrust, First Data launch b-to-b payments

With a new joint venture dubbed PaymentWave, credit card provider First Data Corp., Englewood, Colo., and e-commerce security company Entrust Technologies Inc., Plano, Texas, aim to make it easier for companies to handle b-to-b payments. The new platform will accept an array of payment types, including credit cards, purchase cards, electronic funds transfers, plus value-added services like escrow and payment scheduling. The new venture will compete with payment vendor VeriSign Inc. and b-to-b financing and credit providers like eCredit.com Inc. and Capital Stream Inc.
