Equifax buys Austin-Tetra

Published on .

Atlanta—Consumer data giant Equifax announced Tuesday it has acquired Austin Consolidated Holdings, known as Austin-Tetra, a privately held business-to-business data management solutions provider. Equifax said its supplier data management and customer data management services will be key pieces of Equifax’s strategy to grow its b-to-b business. Financial terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed.

Like D&B’s ubiquitous DUNS number, Austin-Tetra uses a nine-digit number it has created for individual business entities such as subsidiaries, headquarters and branches along with its data matching technology to build views of corporate family structures.

Equifax said Austin-Tetra will maintain its presence in Irving, Texas. CEO Phil Berkebile Jr. will remain with Equifax as a consultant during the transition. The rest of Austin-Tetra’s employees will join Equifax.
