Established banks outflanking dot-coms, Jupiter says

New York--Jupiter Media Metrix Inc. said Wednesday that brick-and-mortar banks increased the number of unique visitors by 110.5% between July 2000 and July 2001, while traffic to dot-com banks declined over the same period. The research firm called traditional banks multichannel because they offer both real-world and online customer locations. Online only banks saw an 8.1% decline in unique visitors during the same period, from 1.2 million to 1.1 million. Chase was the most visited multichannel bank, followed by Wells Fargo and Citibank.
