Boston--Exchange Applications, Boston, and MicroStrategy, Vienna, Va., are teaming to deliver a new customer relationship management package. The two companies announced a $65 million licensing and technology agreement aimed at bringing Exchange's eCRM to market. Under terms of the deal, Exchange will use MicroStrategy's intelligent e-business personal recommendation platform as the underpinning of its CRM suite. Exchange will pay MicroStrategy a $30 million initial fee for use of its database infrastructure, and up to $35 million more over the next three years depending on sales. MicroStrategy is the company headed by CEO Michael Saylor, a leading proponent of the collection of data for effective cross-selling, up-selling and increased customer loyalty.
