Menlo Park, Calif.—Thirty-nine percent of marketing executives say the PR department should handle social media, according to a new survey by staffing agency the Creative Group.
The survey, conducted in May, was based on telephone interviews with more than 400 marketing and ad agency executives.
The No. 2 response was the marketing department (35%), followed by customer service (15%). Only 5% said the CEO or owner should handle social media, and 6% said they didn't know.
