Extremetech moves operations to New York, cuts staffers

Published on .

New York—Ziff Davis Publishing Holdings' PCMag Digital Network confirmed that it has moved the operations of Extremetech from San Francisco to New York and cut a handful of staff members from the site.

Jeremy Kaplan, former editor of ExtremeTech magazine, will be taking over the editorial direction of the site, according to a story on the Extremetech Web site.

"Ziff Davis Media is not shutting Extremetech, despite reports to the contrary. Extremetech, which for eight years has provided high-quality, technical information about core PC technology, continues to be an important brand component of the PCMag Digital Network," Jason Young, Ziff Davis CEO, said in a statement. In an interview with BtoB, Young also said that there were some redundancies in what was covered by the Extremetech brand and PCMag brand.
