Facebook advertising gets mixed reviews from local businesses

Mountain View, Calif.—Ads on Facebook have fans among local business owners, but their ROI is questioned, according to a study from local business-owner network MerchantCircle. The company's quarterly “Merchant Confidence Index” found that 66% of local businesses market themselves using Facebook. While only 22% said they have used Facebook Ads, 65% said they would use the service again because of its ease of use, and ability to start and stop campaigns. Among those that would not advertise again on Facebook, 69% said their ads didn't help them acquire new customers. The MerchantCircle survey, conducted online in April, May and June, received 4,942 total responses.
