Published on .

Menlo Park, Calif.—Facebook Inc. has acquired mobile start-up Parse. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TechCrunch.com is reporting that the deal is valued at $85 million in cash and stock. With the acquisition, Facebook plans to enable developers to build apps that span mobile platforms and devices, the company said on its developers blog. Mobile access is becoming more important to Facebook. Last week the company redesigned its mobile brand pages with new attributes for administrators, allowing companies to feature news, offers and videos more prominently, and with more visible calls to action.
