Facebook launches in-stream video ad program

Published on .

Menlo Park, Calif.—Facebook Inc. has launched a new video ad program, allowing advertisers to offer automatically playing videos within users' news feeds. The new ad units will begin playing as they appear on the screen, on both desktops and laptops as well as mobile devices, but without sound; if clicked or tapped, the video will expand and run the audio track. Users who don't want to view the video can scroll or swipe past it, Facebook said in a statement. And at the end of the ad, a carousel of two additional videos will appear to allow the viewer to see content from the same marketer, Facebook said.
