Facebook reportedly in talks to buy Microsoft's Atlas ad platform

Menlo Park, Calif.—Social networking giant Facebook is in talks with Microsoft Corp. to buy its Atlas Solutions ad-serving platform, according to AllThingsD.com, citing people familiar with the talks. Business Insider also reported that the two companies are in talks. Sources told AllThingsD.com that Facebook has been conducting due diligence on the ad platform as part of its efforts to create its own ad network for third-party websites to compete with Google's DoubleClick. Atlas was acquired by Microsoft in 2007 as part of its purchase of ad network aQuantive for $6 billion.
