Farrar is a 20-year veteran of Nielsen and its predecessor companies. He was named president of Nielsen Business Media in 2007.
“Having managed the trade show business through the economic downturn while also divesting most of the company’s publications, Greg has accomplished his goals at Nielsen and decided it is the right time to seek greater opportunities,” the company said in a statement. Over the past month, Nielsen has sold key trade publications, including Billboard, Editor & Publisher and The Hollywood Reporter.
Farrar will remain during a brief transition period in which he will continue to oversee the publishing portion of Nielsen Business Media.
“The newly created Nielsen Expositions trade show business will be managed by Joe Randall and David Loechner, who are veteran Nielsen trade show executives,” the statement said.
