Not just for those consumers who can design their own dream homes, but for the building planners and manufacturers who turn their dreams into reality.
"We have a lot of plans in our portfolio, but we haven’t really focused on the marketing efforts among builders," Fenton said. "We need to increase the portfolio of plans that are oriented toward the builder."
Fenton takes over at an opportune time for the Home Planners Division, which publishes 51 books and 22 magazines, including leading titles House Beautiful Kitchen & Baths and Good Housekeeping Do It Yourself, for a total circulation of 12 million. Its titles attract manufacturers and suppliers who want to reach homebuilders.
Fenton will also oversee an unspecified investment into ePlans.com. Job one is to enhance the Web site to feature building plans catering to certain home styles, such as Southwestern or Mediterranean, which are now in vogue.
Prior to joining Hanley-Wood, Fenton served as President-CEO at San Francisco-based Newfront Productions Inc., an online publishing and media company.
