Fidelity Investments' profits double

Boston--Fidelity Investments Ltd.'s net income more than doubled to $2.17 billion in 2000 from $1.01 billion in 1999. Fidelity is the world's largest financial services company and a backer of a host of b-to-b Internet initiatives, among them InvestorForce.com and an as-yet-unnamed financial adviser hub it is starting with Putnam Investments, Franklin Templeton Investments and PFPC Inc. Indeed, about half of Fidelity's operating revenue and a third of its operating income came from outside its core non-investment management business.
