Ford works with dealers to go direct

Published on .

Dearborn, Mich.--Ford has finally figured out how to go direct--by relying on its dealer network. The Ford Dealer Council said Friday that it is forming a new enterprise, FordDirect.com, that will let consumers configure and buy cars online and have them delivered by a local dealer. The new enterprise will be jointly owned and supported by participating Ford dealers and Ford Motor Co.
