Cambridge, Mass.--In a new report, Forrester Research projects e-commerce budgets will outpace the rest of IT budgets, with about three-quarters of companies maintaining or increasing their investments in e-commerce initiatives this year.

The survey of 212 e-commerce decision-makers found that spending on customer e-commerce initiatives will grow by 4.8 % in 2004, and supplier-side spending will grow by approximately 1.9 %.

The survey also found that spending on Web-based applications and full-time development staff will lead spending, security will top the list of planned technology purchases for e-commerce activities and improving the user experience will be a key e-commerce goal.
