Founding Editor Sullivan to leave Search Engine Watch

Published on .

Aug. 30 London—Search Engine Watch founding Editor Danny Sullivan announced Tuesday he will be leaving the Web portal as of Dec. 1.

Sullivan, who has overseen the site for a decade, said he and owner Incisive Media have been unable to agree on contract renewal terms. His personal blog—http://daggle.com/060829-112950.html—provides more details regarding the split.

Sullivan sold Search Engine Watch in 1997 to Jupitermedia Corp., which in turn sold it to Incisive Media last year.

At issue is Sullivan’s desire for a greater stake in the Incisive properties he oversees. Many in the industry say Sullivan is a key factor in the Web site’s and companion conference series’ success.
