Foursquare roll outs self-serve ads for small businesses

New York—Location-based social network Foursquare has launched self-serve ads for small businesses designed to improve their rankings in user search results. Small businesses have to pay extra for a more prominent search result only when users actually visit their Foursquare listing or check in at the businesses, Foursquare said on its blog. Pricing for Foursquare ads is determined through bidding, similar to paid search ads on search engines. Foursquare Ads are currently available in the U.S., Brazil, Russia, Turkey and the U.K.
