Pittsburgh-based Freemarkets Inc. signed a Nimitz Class-sized deal with the U.S. Navy. The Naval Supply Systems Command will begin using Freemarkets' b-to-b e-marketplace to purchase unspecified goods and services. The announcement comes several days after U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) in a memo endorsed Freemarkets for federal procurement by such agencies as the Department of Defense.
