New York—Wasserstein & Co. and MidOcean Partners announced Wednesday that John French has been named CEO of the combined Prism Business Media/Penton Media.

Prism’s acquisition of Penton is expected to close in the first half of next year. The combined company will operate under the Penton Media brand with its headquarters in New York.

French has served as president-CEO of Prism Business Media since October 2005. David B. Nussbaum, the current CEO of Penton Media, will leave the company following the completion of the acquisition to pursue other business interests, the equity owners said.
