New York—The Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust waiting period for News Corp.’s acquisition of Dow Jones & Co. The decision paves the way for News Corp. to officially acquire Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, for $5.6 billion. The acquisition, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter, still needs to be approved by Dow Jones stockholders.
