Gannett acquires PointRoll

Published on .

McLean, Va.—Gannett Co. has acquired the stock of PointRoll, a rich media company that develops "mouse over" Internet advertising technology. Financial terms were not disclosed. Gannett, which owns USA Today, will use the PointRoll technology in its network of sites. The technology gives advertisers the ability to expand the size of their online ads when a user scrolls over banner ads on a Web page. Chris Saridakis, previously chief operating officer of PointRoll, becomes CEO of the company, which is operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Gannett. Jules Gardner, PointRoll’s founder and former CEO, announced he is leaving the company. The Jordan, Edmiston Group represented PointRoll in the deal.
