Gannett ad revenue slides 8% in January

McLean, Va.--Gannett Co. Inc., which owns USA Today and 94 other daily newspapers, said Friday that its newspaper advertising revenue in January dropped 8% from a year earlier. Total revenue, which included flat circulation and a 2% decline in TV revenue, fell 6%. At USA Today, ad revenue declined 22%, on a 19% decline in paid pages, as travel advertising continued to slump.
