Stamford Conn.—Despite the growth in the rate of adoption, 71% of companies have been using SaaS (software as a service) for less than three years, according to a report from Gartner Inc. “Survey Analysis: Buyers Tell Us About SaaS and Cloud Adoption Through 2014”, conducted online in June and July, took the pulse of 556 organizations in 10 countries within four regions (Asia/Pacific, Europe, and North and South America) to understand trends in traditional software license models and where software budgets were being spent. The survey found 77% of respondents expected to increase spending on SaaS, while 17% planed to keep spending the same. More than 80% of respondents in Brazil and Asia/Pacific said they expected to spend more on SaaS applications within the next two years; 73% of U.S. respondents and 71% of European respondents said they planned to increase SaaS spending. Brazil had the largest number of new users, with 27% of respondents using SaaS for less than one year.
