Washington, D.C.—General Electric Co. announced a $6 billion initiative designed to provide better products, technology and financing to help improve global health care.

The initiative, called “Healthymagination,” includes a $3 billion investment in health-care innovations over the next six years; $2 billion to finance IT and health care access in rural and underserved areas; and $1 billion in partnerships, content and services.

Under the “Healthymagination” program, GE plans to introduce at least 100 health care innovations that lower costs, increase access and improve quality by 2015.
