Geeknet acquires Geek.com for $1 million

Mountain View, Calif.—Geeknet Inc., an online network for tech enthusiasts and professionals, announced Thursday that it has acquired Geek.com in a deal valued at $1 million.

Geek.com, founded in 1996, includes news, reviews and comments from readers. In addition to its U.S audience, Geek.com has reach in Canada, the U.K., Australia, India, Germany, France and Brazil.

“We are laser focused on growing our media business. Adding Geek.com to our network is yet another indication of our commitment to serve the global geek community and deliver this coveted audience to Madison Avenue,” Scott L. Kauffman, president-CEO of Geeknet, said in a statement.
