GlobalSpec says business better, but suppliers slow to respond to e-mail requests

Troy, N.Y.—The U.S. industrial sector is optimistic about increases in spending on components and services this year, according to GlobalSpec’s annual user survey.

The survey found 92% of respondents anticipate 2005 revenue will be ahead of last year. In addition, 18% of respondents report head count reductions this year, compared with 42% at the same point in 2002.

However, the survey also revealed dissatisfaction with the way suppliers respond to information requests received via e-mail. Just 20% said they consistently receive the information requested from suppliers, and 43% said they must wait between three and seven days to receive a response to e-mail inquiries.
