Troy, N.Y.—GlobalSpec, an e-publishing company that serves the engineering and industrial sector, reported that it expanded its global registered users last year to 5.6 million, an increase of about 900,000.

Additionally, GlobalSpec said the number of subscribers to its 60 e-newsletters numbered 9.1 million at the end of 2009, an increase of 21% over 2008.

“Despite the impact of the worst recession in 70 years, GlobalSpec was able to significantly grow its registered users bases and subscription bases, successfully launch new services and debut a new line of business with e-events,” Jeffrey Killeen, GlobalSpec chairman-CEO, said in a statement.

The privately held company did not report revenue figures for 2009.
