Goldman to expand Silicon Valley office for b-to-b IPOs

New York--Goldman Sachs & Co., the No. 1 underwriter of IPOs in 1999, will expand the technology analyst staff in its Menlo Park, Calif., office from 10 to 24. The company is expanding staff in anticipation of an increased number of b-to-b IPOs over the next year. Last December, Goldman Sachs handled the IPOs of b-to-b companies Freemarkets Inc., Pittsburgh, and Calico Commerce Inc., San Jose, Calif.
