Google alters search algorithm for 'freshness'

Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.—Google Inc., building on its Caffeine speed boost introduced last year, has announced further changes to its ranking algorithm to provide “fresher,” more relevant results. The company said on its official blog that search improvements will impact “roughly 35% of searches and better determine when to give you more up-to-date relevant results for these varying degrees of freshness.” In addition, Google said it will begin to index comments posted on third-party Facebook pages.
