Google buys social group startup Fridge

Mountain View, Calif.—Google has acquired Fridge, a social network that allowed users to organize their friends into groups, share photos and plan events. The acquisition is expected to augment the company's Google+ social outreach. Fridge currently has 40,000 monthly unique viewers. More than 20,000 groups have been formed, where users can share videos, instant messages, pictures, polls and events with friends. Fridge had already raised $800,000 in venture capital funding.
