Google enables large-form AdSense ads for smart phones

By Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.—Google has released a new feature for its AdSense for Mobile ad-serving application, allowing publishers to run bigger ads on smart phones that have full Internet browsers, such as the iPhone, Palm Pre and devices running Google’s Android mobile operating system, such as the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and Sprint Hero.

Previously, AdSense mobile was restricted to small text or image ads. The new feature allows publishers to approximate the ad-serving experience of computers on mobile devices.

Google estimates that about 177 million compatible smart phones will be bought this year. According to Nielsen Online, mobile Web access in the U.S. grew 34% in the 12 months ended in July.
