Google increases market share, commands 64% of all U.S. searches

Published on .

New York—Search leader Google accounted for 64.35% of all U.S. searches in July, according to Hitwise, an online measurement company, in its monthly analysis. That’s up 7% from last July, when Google commanded 60.23% of U.S. searches.

Yahoo still holds the No. 2, spot with a 22.13% share, and MSN Search and Ask.com trail with 8.79% and 3.21%, respectively.

Travel, News and Media, Entertainment, and Business and Finance categories received double-digit increases in July compared with July2006 in terms of share of traffic coming directly from search engines.

The Hitwise data are based on a sample of 10 million U.S. Internet users.
