Menlo Park, Calif.—Google has unveiled Google+ mobile content recommendations, a widget that suggests additional content from a publisher's site to help engage mobile users longer.
If mobile users are signed into the Google+ platform, suggested content will be based on what was recommended or shared by others in their network; the recommendation engine also works if the reader is not using Google+.
Forbes.com is the launch partner for the service.
“In all cases, recommended content is based on the specific page the visitor is viewing, to boost the relevance of recommendations,” according to the Google+ blog post introducing the product.
Initially introduced for the mobile Web, Google plans to expand to other platforms in the future, the blog said.
