Google Local goes mobile

Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.—Google on  Tuesday released two new local services that will enable users to connect to information from mobile phones and other wireless devices.

From local business listings to interactive street maps, users can now access Google Local information through a mobile Web browser and driving directions using Google SMS.

Users visiting Google.com/local on their cell phones can enter search terms and receive results directly from Google Local. Search queries can also be made by sending the search query in text messaging format to the code "GOOGL."
