Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.—Google is integrating its AdSense advertising platform, which serves in-context ads based on a website's content, with its AdMob mobile ad network.

Publishers of ads aimed at Android and iPhone smartphone users on the AdMob platform will be able to fill their inventory with an AdSense ad when an AdMob ad is not available. According to Google on its official mobile blog, the integration will allow Google AdSense advertisers “to extend the reach of their mobile campaigns to the thousands of mobile apps in AdMob's network.

Last month, San Mateo, Calif.-based AdMob announced new ad units for smartphones running Google's Android operating system, including interactive video ads, further aligning the two companies.
