Google+ Pages debuts for brands and companies

Mountain View, Calif.—Google has extended its new Google+ social network site to include brands and companies. According to Google, Google+ Pages, analogous to Facebook's fan pages for companies, will allow companies to specify a category—such as a local business, product or brand—or the “type” of company they are. Also, companies can launch video “hangouts” where they can have face-to-face conversations with followers. Since the debut of Google+ in June, the service now has an estimated 40 million users and 3.4 billion photos uploaded.
