Mountain View, Calif.—Google announced Tuesday that it has launched Google Spreadsheets as a limited test on Google Labs.

Spreadsheets will be a free service for users to create and share basic spreadsheets online in a secured environment. The spreadsheets can be updated and edited by several users at a time in real time.

There is also a feature for users to chat on-screen while editing and viewing the same spreadsheet. In addition, users can save spreadsheets to their computers in formats including CSV, XLS and HTML.
