Mountain View, Calif.—Google plans to introduce a smartphone app that will enable users to pay for purchases by waving their devices over a near-field communication terminal.
Google Wallet, to be launched this summer, already has signed up Citibank, MasterCard and a number of stores.
The value of Google Wallet is expected to tightly integrate Google Offers, the company's daily deals service launched in April.
On Thursday, Google wrote on its blog,
"When you tap to pay, your phone will also automatically redeem offers and earn loyalty points for you."
