Why:Even before the WSJ.com redesign debuted in September, McLeod had dramatically increased the site's visitor count and modestly built up paid subscriptions. By August, traffic had increased more than 60% from a year earlier, to 17 million unique monthly visitors. The 1.06 million subscribers for the third quarter was up 7.5% from the year-earlier period. The redesign, which emphasizes WSJ.com's relationship within the digital network, is designed to propel traffic and subscriptions to even higher levels.
