Grainger COO affirms company's commitment to e-commerce

Chicago--Wesley M. Clark, president-COO of W.W. Grainger, reiterated Thursday the industrial supply company’s commitment to e-commerce during a speech at William Blair & Co.’s 22nd Annual Growth Stock Conference.

Clark affirmed Grainger’s plan to reach its long-term goal of 7% to 10% revenue growth, detailing strategies for share gains from current customers and customers making the transition to the Internet.

Clark told the conference attendees that he believes his company, which has been alternatively celebrated as an e-commerce leader and criticized for moving too quickly to the Internet, is in a strong position for the recovery.

“Grainger is the only industrial distributor with a strong local inventory position in every major market across America,” he said. “And when the economy turns, our experience tells us that it is the strength of our local inventory that will help drive increased sales and market share.”
