Grainger reports falling sales in May

Chicago—Grainger reported Monday continued declines in its sales for May 2009. Daily sales declined 10% compared with May 2008. Additionally, the supplier of facilities maintenance products said that foreign exchange negatively affected sales by about two percentage points. Further, there was one less selling day in May 2009 (20) compared with May 2008 (21). Sales in the U.S. dropped 9% and in Canada, by 14%.
