Chicago--Grant Thornton L.L.P. and TranSys Technologies Corp. will begin jointly advising midsize companies on building offshore technology development practices. Princeton, N.J.-based TranSys will develop much of the technology while Grant Thornton will provide the related consulting. The companies will help U.S. midsize companies extend their ability to develop software in cheaper countries. This is something that larger technology companies, including i2 Technologies Inc., have done for years to save money. Until recently, midsize companies have been at a disadvantage in launching similar initiatives.
