Halcrow Group wins ABM’s Grand Littleford Award for Community Service

New York—Halcrow Group won American Business Media’s Grand Littleford Award for community service at the 10th annual William D. Littleford Awards luncheon Tuesday.

The Littleford Awards recognize outstanding dedication to corporate community service. Nominees are selected by ABM members.

Halcrow Group, nominated by McGraw-Hill Cos.’ Engineering News Record, was recognized for donating more than $147,000 in aid to victims of the 2004 tsunami and providing engineers to build new facilities in Africa and Sri Lanka. Halcrow was awarded a $3,000 donation to the charity of its choice.

The first runner-up was Library Journal, nominated by Reed Business Information, for its Library Makeover program. The program is designed to showcase the latest in library design, furnishings and technology.

The second runner-up was mercyFirst, nominated by CMP Technology’s Web site, www.cmp.com, for its work providing teenagers living at mercyFirst’s St. Mary’s Campus in Syosset, New York, with guidance and mentorship through a pair of annual four-week, job “shadowing” programs.
