'Harvard Business Review' publisher steps down

Published on .

Boston--Harvard Business Review said publisher Penelope Muse Abernathy has resigned amid a broad overhaul of the university's business publishing operations. Abernathy's departure comes just three months after the Review's top editor, Suzy Wetlaufer, resigned following disclosures about a personal relationship with former General Electric Co. CEO Jack Welch. Cathryn Cranston, the Review's associate publisher, will succeed Abernathy. Harvard Business School Publishing said Monday that Abernathy, publisher of the monthly business journal since 1999, is stepping down as part of an "extensive internal strategic review."
