Hewlett-Packard's top marketing executive quits to join Apple

Published on .

Palo Alto, Calif.—Less than a week after Hewlett-Packard Co. announced the departure of its chairman-CEO, Carly Fiorina, it confirmed that its top marketing executive, Allison Johnson, is leaving the company.

Johnson, senior VP-corporate marketing, will depart HP to become VP-worldwide marketing and communications at Apple Computer.

Johnson was named BtoB’s Marketer of the Year in 2004.

According to an HP spokeswoman, Johnson resigned on Feb. 4, but the board asked her to stay until after it released its first-quarter earnings report, which is due out this week. Johnson’s last day at HP will be Friday.

Robert Wayman, HP’s CFO, is serving as interim CEO while HP searches for a successor to Fiorina.
