Hiring plans for digital, direct marketing slots on the rise

Owatonna, Minn.—Companies are ushering in the new year with a surge in hiring plans for posts in direct and digital marketing, according to the latest survey of hiring decision-makers and human resource officials by Bernhart Associates. According to the direct marketing executive search company's latest “Quarterly Digital and Direct Marketing Employment Repor,t” 52% of companies said they plan to add staff this quarter, up from the 40% reported in the final three months of 2011. Also, 19% currently operate under a hiring freeze, down slightly from 20%. The percentage of companies planning layoffs this quarter dropped to 6%, compared with 8% in the previous quarter. The online survey, conducted in January, garnered 446 respondents.
