Palo Alto, Calif.--Hewlett-Packard Co. unveiled Wednesday the new name for its measurement and components business, which is being realigned as a fully independent company. The new company will be called Agilent Technologies, a name derived from the word "agile." Landor Associates, a San Francisco-based branding agency, developed the Agilent name. In 1998, Agilent had revenue of nearly $8 billion. The new company, which will have its headquarters in Palo Alto, will have 43,000 employees in more than 40 countries.
