HP, Oracle to develop software together

Palo Alto and Redwood Shores, Calif.--Hewlett-Packard Co. and Oracle Corp. announced Tuesday a series of agreements through which the companies will develop Oracle software to run on the HP platform. Specifically, HP and Oracle agreed that HP will use and sell the Oracle Sales component of Oracle's Customer Relationship Management software suite. Additionally, Oracle agreed that it will step up development and engineering efforts on the HP-UX computing platform. Lawrence Ellison, chairman-CEO of Oracle, said in a statement that this Internet-based partnership between the two companies constituted a "prototype for a whole new sales model."
